Windows better for home usage than Linux

I used Ubuntu for around 3 months in 2006 and kinda quit using it and switched back to Windows. Back then i was forced to use Ubuntu live due to my hard disk being broken ( so i had to use the live version ). I couldn't wait to switch back to windows when i was using Ubuntu . Games , weird Software , Wireless .. it was all missing back then ( some even now ). What i am trying to point out here is that the Linux is not yet fit for average home users ( not even the Linux for human beings ). You can do everything you do on Linux + more on Windows. Open Office is on the right track but still i don't like the feel of Open Office compared to Microsoft Office 2007 / 2003. Normally you need to install lots of library's to play mp3's and tons more to play MPEG's and DVD's. That is something which is hard to figure out for normal home users as Windows supports mp3 by default. Even if Vista has DRM protection and bla bla its still a better Operating System than Ubuntu or any Linux distro for Home Users. I would never use Linux at home unless its got games like GTA : San Andreas and Final Fantasy + Some softwares like Adobe Dream weaver and Photoshop for it. Plus the current players available like Totem are not good enough. There are free applications like media player classic available for windows which are way better than the ones available on Linux even though they are not open source.

not totally. yes u might need to install a extra codec to play mp3, that due to copyright issues. but then if u have used the last 2 ubuntu versions, u'd know its just a few clicks to get that done. as for games, yes linux is not for gamers yet. i'd go for PS for that. But in my view Linux is a good choice for homes, depending on what you use your computer for. If you are a normal home user who just browses and chats and watches movies. Then linux is a good choice, cos its stable and easy(no need to worry abt virus and all that stuff and get your tension high every other week). Once u set it up, go on use it. Nothing to worry. In that sense its good, plus even the looks is better now. As for Open Office I agree, still M$ Office is better. Then again, if you just want to do normal stuff, OO can handle them, still not happy? Use Wine and run M$ Office, or a lot of other windows apps, even games. So it all depends on what you really use your machine for. For gamers Windows is the obvious choice. If you further push it, I would say Mac OS is even a better choice then even windows. Again Games become a issue. Some thing to note and agree is, Linux is still not ready for home users out of the box, but with a little help from a pro, it can be setup really well. Thats one of the down sites, but it does have all the features. One thing I've noticed over the last one year is, having Linux installed for home makes your life easy (no complains that PC is slow, virus, etc).. but yeah have to give it a little work when you first setup the box. If you are a gamer plus if you like to install all little shareware and all the rest of the apps that is sold at formax, yes Windows is the right choice. If you a geek and want to move beyond a simple OS which gives you more flexibility and power, Linux might be the choice for you. If you like stylish, stable and yet powerful OS, Mac OS X might be the right choice for you. It all depends. :)

how about Mac os X ...
i have to say windows is lil bit more user friendly than linux ...
but may be thats coz we have been exposed to windows form childhood ...
just a thought ...
